Visa 485

Visa 485 (Temporary Graduate visa) is a temporary visa that allows international students to live, study and work after you have finished your studies.

Students can only be granted this visa once in Australia. Specifically, Australia's 485 visa is a work visa for international students
 who have completed a 2-year course in Australia. This visa can last from 18 months to 4 years depending on your case.

BASIC ELIGIBILITY

  • IELTS 6.0 (no band under 5)
  • AU Police Check
  • Health Insurance (OVHC)
  • 2 years Australian Study Requirement (92-week CRICOS + from 16 calendar months)

GRADUATE WORK STREAM

This visa is for international students who have recently graduated with skills and qualifications that are relevant to specific occupations Australia needs. It lets you live, study and work in Australia temporarily.

  • For 18 months
  • All certificates (cert, dip)
  • Must have Skill Assessment (provisional SA is okay) in in MLTSSL

POST-STUDY STREAM

This visa is for international students who have recently graduated with a degree from an Australian institution. It lets you live, work and study in Australia, temporarily.

  • For 2-6 years
  • Bachelor + graduated
  • All degrees
  • First student visa to Aus on or after 5/11/2011

UPDATE DUE TO COVID-19

Offshore application

  • Valid visa period is 2 years from the time you can return to Australia
  • Submission time: 12 months from the date you complete the course (completion date)

 

Onshore application

  • No English required IELTS 6.0 (no band under 5.0) or equivalent PTE before submitting 485
  • Longer processing time => beneficial to the applicant
  • The submission time is still 6 months from the date you complete the course (completion date).
